Left - Salt Lake
Snake River in ID
We left Salt Lake City this morning after a gas stop near the campground. The price was a little higher than the last few stops: $2.81.
A beautiful day for a drive. It was a short day. We arrived in Boise, ID about four this afternoon. The campground is in Meridian which seems to be part of the Boise metro area. After all day being in nothing but fields, dessert, sagebrush, some fields of flowers, lots of rocks/mountains varying colors we have arrived back in civilization.
The fields all seemed to be watered by irrigation ditches and above ground rolling "sprinklers". In our non-farmer eyes we wondered how they grew crops in these big fields where the ground had nearly no "dirt" color. The straw bales were HUGE. We finally saw a loader that was used to stack the bales. These bales would overflow our area wagons in very short order. The bales looked like they were four feet tall.
Tomorrow our plan is to tour via the car the Sawtooth Mountain.
Bet it was nice to have a short travel day. 4:00 is my favorite time to stop for the day!!! Just looked at the map...you will see Sun Valley Ski Area??? I always remember that very old song...something about 'I met you....in Sun Valley...not so very....long ago....' Can you hear it???? Looking forward to pictures! Gave your blog site to Jan so Edith and Hiram may be cking your progress....ENJOY!!!
